Professional History
Education
Jo graduated from the University of Brighton in 2017 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She continues to develop her knowledge and skills through ongoing professional training, ensuring her work reflects current best practice and truly meets the needs of children and families.
Approach
Jo’s approach is warm, child-centred, and individualised, recognising that every child and their needs are unique. She collaborates with children, families, and other professionals, using evidence-based OT strategies tailored to each child's needs to build confidence, independence, and everyday success.
Experience
Since qualifying, Jo has worked primarily with children and young people across a wide range of needs. Her professional experience is driven by personal understanding, having seen firsthand the positive impact Occupational Therapy had on her own son.
Specialisation
As a Highly Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist, Jo specialises in supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental differences, sensory processing needs, motor coordination challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties, helping them thrive in ways that feel right for them.
Certifications
Jo has completed a broad range of highly specialised post-graduate training, including Sensory Integration (Level 3), Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP), Developmental Trauma Training with Beacon House, the Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), and the Kelly Mahler Interoception Curriculum.
Advocacy & Commitment:
Jo has extensive experience supporting families through tribunal processes, as an expert witness and has a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Children and Families Act (2014). Above all, she is passionate about helping children and young people access the support they need to live life fully and in their own way.
